SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE DIRECTED BY CLINT EASTWOOD
Gripping, eye-opening, and powerful, American Sniper is the astonishing autobiography of SEAL Chief Chris Kyle, who is the record-holding sniper in U.S. military history. Kyle has more than 150 officially confirmed kills (the previous American record was 109), though his remarkable career total has not been made public by the Pentagon.
In this New York Times bestselling memoir, Kyle shares the true story of his extraordinary decade-long career, including his multiple combat tours in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and elsewhere from 1999-2009.
Kyle’s riveting first-person account of how he went from Texas rodeo cowboy to expert marksman and feared assassin offers a fascinating view of modern-day warfare and one of the most in-depth and illuminating looks into the secret world of Special Ops ever written.
This book is a must read for anyone who wants to find out what we are up against in the Mideast. Chris Kyle is a true American hero whose exploits are recounted in a down to earth and self-deprecating way. His courage, conditioning, toughness, fortitude and coolness under fire are absolutely humbling. An incredible story, not to be missed. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to Chris Kyle and all of the amazing men he served with in the elite group of warriors known as the U.S. Navy SEAL's. They know freedom isn't free and have chosen to put their lives at risk to defend it for the rest of us.
The author does a great job of relating his journey from a young kid in Texas to becoming a highly regarded member of an already highly regarded team. Mr. Kyle does a great job of telling us about not only the training of Seals and the general methods by which they were deployed in Iraq; but gives a window into their community... how Seals interact. You hear from , Taya, Mrs. Kyle, so you get some perspective on Seal life at home. Lastly, the author brings home the realities of combat, confusion, sound, the interaction between services (Army, Navy, Marines, Airforce), death, administration. Read this book.
