This is a thoroughly researched, well written book about a fine man who became a terrific president. There is much for the nation to learn from Coolidge's presidency. If Coolidge had served another term as president and stayed healthy, this country would have undoubtedly avoided Hoover's mistakes that launched the depression. Moreover, the country might also have avoided the strident political atmosphere that later encouraged Roosevelt to advocate more mistakes that ultimately sustained and deepened the depression.
