If you are at all curious about the prison system, read this book.If you ever question justice, penitence, or friendship you should read this book. This memoir was a shocking look into one woman’s year in prison. It details the many inhumane aspects of prison in a way that is so honest and not at all self pitying. This book is fascinating, hilarious, heart warming, heart breaking, and inspirational. I would say it is a must read.

Piper Kerman does a great job at shining a spotlight on how poorly the Federal Bureau of Prisons prepares inmates to cope after release. This book takes some very important issues and wraps them in a witty and compelling narrative. Orange Is The New Black grabs the reader on the first page and takes them on a wild ride through a world that seems foreign and yet somehow familiar. Great book!
