5-Star fantastic read! Loved it! I can’t implore you enough to read the 4 prequel novellas before indulging in this story about Celaena Sardothien, Ardalan’s renowned assassin. One cannot fully understand or appreciate the growth and loss she’s gone through to get her to this point in Throne of Glass without those backstories. Yes, she is still arrogant, defiant, beautiful and deadly. But, after experiencing great losses, betrayals, and imprisonment, she has become so much more than a famous killer for hire. She has compassion, heart, and honor. She has grown from a 16 y/o arrogant girl to a 18 y/o courageous young woman who finds a bit of herself and sees a future of freedom and possibilities.

Chaol and Dorian, her two love interests are like polar opposites. Dorian, the Crown Prince, fun-loving and playful and Chaol, the Captain of the Royal guards, responsible and dependable. Each fall for her and show their affections in different ways. One, more openly while the other, with more subtlety. Each had qualities I loved and I couldn’t decide who to root for. I loved them both!
There were a few unexpected revelations and plot twists that kept me on my toes. I was enthralled with the storyline and couldn’t put the book down. Just when I thought I could anticipate an outcome, there was a surprise turn of events. Even the subplots were intriguing and tied in nicely to the main plot in the end. I love a book that’s unpredictable! There were paranormal elements I had not expected as well, which was a nice surprise. I can’t wait to find out what happens next with Celaena. What will it be like to be the King’s Champion when she despises and fears him. Will she be able to stay away from Dorian and vice-versa. Will Chaol and Celaena get closer? What is the true meaning of her Wyrdmark? And so many more questions!!! I’m ready for more!
