The author uses his career experience as a Wall Street insider to craft a delicious thriller. The writing style is instantly likeable, and the author does a stellar job of unraveling the bad guys' scam without overwhelming the reader with trader tech-talk (which would've been Greek to me). Another great strength of the book is the main character's relationship with his autistic son - we feel the agony of a parent dealing with the tantrums, public meltdowns, and countless other challenges and we truly get the sense that there's nothing the father wouldn't do to help 'The Kid' become the best he can be.
Former Wall Street hotshot Jason Stafford made some bad moves, paid with two years in prison, and is trying to put his life back together. Hired by an investment firm to look into possible irregularities left by a junior trader who died in an accident, Stafford discovers something big -- but it's not his only concern. His next quest is to reclaim his five-year-old son, "the Kid," from his unstable ex-wife, and then learn just what it means to make a life with him.

Jason Strafford has it all: fabulous Wall Street job, seven figure salary, beautiful wife, brand new baby boy... then it all comes to an end. Jason is arrested for financial malfeasance, his alcoholic wife leaves him,and his son is diagnosed as severely autistic. We meet him as he is being released from prison after serving a two-year sentence. Jason quickly becomes mired in dangerous business. Hired by an investment firm to clean out the files of a young stock trader who has died in a drowning accident, he soon finds there is much awry in the files and the firm. While this piece of the novel is riveting, the even more fascinating story is Jason's quest to reclaim his son and provide him with as good a life as possible. His love for the boy- who he affectionately refers to as The Kid- adds much depth to the novel and, as he unravels the intricacies of his son's psyche, he gets a clearer look into the human condition- both good and evil. Highly recommended!
