Requires the utmost in concentration. If you've never taken an A&P course before, this book can be a difficult read, as 90% of the information will be new to you, and ALL of it will be important and required to be memorized, as the course/subject builds upon itself. There are plenty of EXTREMELY HELPFUL DIAGRAMS. Certain chapters could be better presented, but all in all, a good book, so long as you take the time to process the information. My main issue is the time allotted by my professor to read and comprehend it. It can be a bad case of information overload. Take your time.

Used this text for both my anatomy and Phys classes. Goes into great detail and has plenty of sources to help understand content. Most is detailed however some concepts (baroreceptor reflex etc.) are more simplified and could provide more detail. A plus is at the end of reading a paragraph they have homeostatic imbalances to see the effect of hypo/hyper use of whatever it is you are talking about.

About the Author

For Elaine N. Marieb, taking the student's perspective into account has always been an integral part of her teaching style. Dr. Marieb began her teaching career at Springfield College, where she taught anatomy and physiology to physical education majors. She then joined the faculty of the Biological Science Division of Holyoke Community College after receiving her Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Dr. Katja Hoehn is an instructor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Canada. Dr. Hoehn's first love is teaching. Her teaching excellence has been recognized by several awards during her 14 years at Mount Royal College. These include a PanCanadian Educational Technology Faculty Award (1999), a Teaching Excellence Award from the Student’s Association of Mount Royal College (2001), and the Mount Royal College Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award (2004).
